Serrekunda West Nawettan update

The 2023 Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) Africell sponsored nawettan competition is currently gaining momentum at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

The Zone started its wet season’s biggest football jamboree last month with 36 teams drawn into six groups with six teams in each group.

The Serrekunda West Zone, who won the Super Nawettan (Zonals) tournament in 2015, completed their group stage first round matches and began their second-round group stage matches on Thursday 7 September 2023.

Kanifing Layout started the second-round match with a ban after defeating Tababi FC in the earlier game played on Thursday 7 September 2023.

Modou Lamin Saidy Kurang and Omar Ndirr scored both goals for Tababi in the 47th and 52th minute of the match respectively.

Tababi now secured four points after drawing their opening match against Jeshwang City, while Kanifing Layout snatched a point after drawing their opening match against B.K Central.

Future Stars defeated B.K Central 1-0 in their second group game played on Thursday.  

Kakuta Kujabi scored for Future Stars in the 17th minute of the match.

Future Stars FC registered six points after winning their two opening matches against Jatta’s FC and BK Central.

BK Central have now collected a single point in two matches after their goalless draw against Kanifing Layout in their opening match.

Jatta’s played a goalless draw against Jeshwang City in their second group match played on Friday 8 September 2023.

Jatta’s FC now collected one point after losing their opening match, while Jeshwang City now collected two points after drawing their two opening game.

Old Hands were again defeated 2-0 by Kaw Tally in their second group match played later on Friday.

The Old Hands side now conceded two defeats in two games, while Kaw Tally now collected four points.

Junction Bii and Hunters played a goalless draw in the morning game played on Saturday.

Junction Bii now collected their first point in their first match of the nawettan, while Hunters FC now collected their second point of the nawettan after drawing their opening match.

Babun Fatty also shared the spoils with Erinjang after playing a goalless draw in the second morning match on the same day.

Babun Fatty now recorded four points after thumping Old Hands in their opening game, while last year’s Knockout winners Erinjang now collected their first point.

EFFA Lions and Ruha Gii played a barren goalless draw in a game played on Saturday afternoon.

EFFA Lions now secured two points after drawing their opening match, while Ruha Gii now recorded four points after winning their opening group stage match.

Hapapa FC were held to a goalless draw against Manga 11 in the second game played on the same day.

Hapapa FC now registered four points after winning their opening match, while Mango 11 now collected two points after drawing their opening match.

Badala played a 1-1 draw against Kanifing United in their second group match played earlier on Sunday.

Paul Mendy scored for Kanifing United in the 46 minutes, while Abdoulie Dem leveled matters for Badala in the 53 minute to share the spoils.

Badala FC now collected a single point in two games after drawing their opening game, while Kanifing United now collected their first point.

Celtic were defeated by Campbell Town 1-0 in the second game played on Sunday.

Mam Jam Jane scored for Campbell Town in the 68th minute of the match.

Celtic FC now recorded three points after winning their opening match, while Campbell Town now recorded six points after winning their opening match.

Anfield defeated Unicorns 1-0 in a match played on Monday.

Ebou Ndirr scored the only goal for Anfield in the 76 minute of the match.

Anfield now collected three points after losing their opening match, while Unicorns registered three points after winning their opening match.

Real de Jeshwang were beaten 1-0 by Galaxy.

 Ousainou Jaiteh scored for Galaxy in the 85 minute of the match.

Real de Jeshwang are with zero points after losing their back-to-back fixtures, while Galaxy FC now collected three points after losing their opening match.
