The Senegalese under-20 coach, Malick Daff has congratulated The Gambia U-20 team for doing well and getting up to the final in the recently concluded WAFU Zone A football tournament held at the Cheikha Ould Boidiya Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

The pleasing statement came on the sidelines of his team’s 1-0 victory over The Gambian junior men in the final match of the tournament, which earned them (Senegal U-20) the sub-continental U-20 trophy.

“We deserved the victory with a goal scored after several spurning scoring chances. I also say congratulations to The Gambia, which is a very good team, and it is good for the Zone to have such a competitive tournament,” he said after the clash with The Gambia in the final.

“I will also salute the Senegalese Football Federation, which promotes continuity by allowing us to progress from the U-17s to the U-20s.”

Meanwhile, The Gambian U-20 coach, Abdoulie Bojang said: “It's a disappointment, we tried a lot of things but it didn't work against the Senegal team.”
