Scan Aid Girls finish 3rd place in CAF School Football Championship

Gambia’s Scan Aid girls won the third-place trophy in the CAF Pan African School football championship held in South Africa after a 4-3 post-match penalty shootout win over Congo.

The match ended in a goalless stalemate at the end of regulation time. 

Earlier in the day, the Gambia narrowly lost 1-0 to Ecole Omar INB Khatab Rabat of Morocco in the semifinals.

Scan Aid started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against the host team, Edendale Technical High School before they were beaten 2-0 by Fountain Gate School.

The Gambian girls will pocket $150, 000 (equivalent to over 9 million dalasis) for winning the third place in the CAF School Football inaugural tournament.
