Samger earn 3rd win in GFF 1st Division League

Samger were the only winner during the first set of week-eight matches of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League after defeating Waa Banjul on Monday.

Samger defeated Waa Banjul 2-0 during a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum.

Demba Touray opened the scoring for the Academy boys with a strong header in the 25th minute before Fernando Perreira's fantastic shot from 35 yard in the second period sealed the victory for the academy boys.

The victory moved Samger at 11th position with 11 points, while Waa Banjul dropped to rock-bottom-(16th) position with 4 points.  

Fortune were held to a goalless draw against Greater Tomorrow during a game played at the Brikama Box-Bar Mini Stadium.

The result puts Fortune at 4th position with 13 points, while Greater Tomorrow occupies 14th position with 6 points.

Steve Biko also held the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) to a goalless draw during a game played at the Bakau Mini Stadium. 

The draw puts Steve Biko at 3rd position with 13 points, while GAF occupy 10th position with 11 points.

Banjul United and Gamtel also played a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Banjul Mini Stadium.

Samsideen Sarr scored for Gamtel in the 21st minute, while Baba Ceesay restored purity for Banjul United just before half time.

Both teams were reduced to 10 men after Ebrima Sonko (Gamtel) and Siaka Gassama (Banjul United) were shown their matching orders. 

The result moved Gamtel to 6th position with 12 points, while Banjul United occupy 11th position with 11 points.
