Head coach of Red Scorpions Chorro Mbenga-Nyassi is currently soliciting financial support from the president of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Lamin Kaba Bajo, to participate in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Coach Mbenga appealed to President Bajo to render financial support to Red Scorpions in order to participate in this year's CAF Champions Women’s League.

She revealed that they are not going there as Red Scorpion, adding that they are going there to represent The Gambia.

‘‘We would be happy to receive your support to participate in the Women’s Champions League,’’ Coach Mbenga said.

She called on government, individuals and philanthropists to support Red Scorpions in their quest to participate in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

When asked about her future target after claiming three women’s league titles, Coach Mbenga stated that her future target is to win the league again.

She further stated that last season; they received the same amount and could not save a single butut.

She noted that football is very expensive; adding that they started giving allowances to the players every month without sponsors coming in.

She thanked her players for their commitment during the league matches.

“We want to expose our players,” she said.

Coach Mbenga revealed that players who are doing well in the country only stop here.

She called on all coaches to double their efforts in helping the players to do better.

‘‘You can see the gap between playing at home and outside,’’ Coach Mbenga pointed out.

Meanwhile, Red Scorpions received medals, a giant trophy and a cheque amounting to D500,000 as league champions, while Berewuleng received D250, 000 as second runners up.

TMT received D125, 000 as third-place holder.
