PSV Wellingara win, Falcons held again in 1st Division League

PSV Wellingara have surprisingly defeated The Gambia Armed Forces, while league leaders Falcons were again held to another draw during the week-20 fixtures of the GFF First Division League played on Monday.

The Wellingara based-team beat The Gambia Armed Forces 2-1 in a game played at the Box Bar Mini-Stadium in Brikama.

Jerreh Marong and Yusupha Sanyang scored for PSV Wellingara in the 54th and 74th minute of the match respectively, while Baboucarr Sanyang scored the consolation goal for The Gambia Armed Forces.

The defeat was the Soldiers ninth defeat of the season, while the Wellingara-based team collected their fourth victory of the league.

The Army overall recorded 7 triumphs, 4 draws and 9 defeats while PSV Wellingara overall registered 4 wins, 5 draws and 11 defeat after 20 matches.

The Wellingara based-team now recorded a back-to-back win in the country’s Premier League campaign.

PSV Wellingara maintain bottom-place (16th) position on the league table with 17 points, while the defeat was The Gambia Armed Forces five straight defeats.

The Soldiers now sit 9th position on the league table with 25 points.

Falcons FC were forced to a goalless draw against Fortune FC in a match played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yumdum.

The Blue Army registered their eighth draw of the league, while the Petroleum Boys collected their sixth draw of the season.

Falcons FC overall collected 10 wins, 8 draws and 1 defeat in 19league  games while the Fortune FC overall registered 9 victories, 6 draws and 4 defeats in 20 league games.

The draw was Falcons FC second consecutive draw in the league.

The Abuko based-team maintain their lead at the top of the table with 38 points, while Fortune sit 3rd position on the league table with 33 points.

Samger FC thrashed Hawks FC 3-0 in a game played at the Banjul King George 5 Mini-Stadium.

Ousman Jagne opened the scoring for Samger in the 27th minute of the match before Omar Jarju doubled their lead in the 41st minute.

 Modou Lamin Janneh scored third goal for Samger in the 73rd minute of the match to clutch the significant three points.

The Academy Boys collected their eighth victories of the league season, while Hawks FC suffered their eighth defeats of the season.

Samger FC overall collected 8 wins, 5 draws and 7 defeats while Hawks FC 5 victories, 7 draws and 8 defeats in 20 league games.

Samger FC registered back-to-back wins in the league.

The win moves Samger FC to 6th position on the league table with 29 points, while Hawks dropped to 13th position on the league table with 22 points after 20 league outings.

Steve Biko were forced to a barren goalless draw against Banjul United in a game played at the Bakau Mini-Stadium.

The Beach Boys collected their eleventh draw of the season, while the Banjul-based team recorded their sixth draw of the league.

Steve Biko overall secure 4 triumphs, 11 draws and 5 defeats, while Banjul United overall collected 5 victories, 6 draws and 9 defeat in 20 league matches.

The draw moves Steve Biko to 10th position on the league table with 23 points after 20 league games, leveling with Waa Banjul and Gamtel.

 Banjul United now sit 15th position on the league table with 21 points, leveling with Greater Tomorrow.
