National Inter-Departmental Sports Association (NISA) 6-Aside tournament on Sunday kicked off at the EMAD football complex in Pipeline.

The opening match featured United Nations (UN) The Gambia and Judiciary (judicial staff).

Both teams displayed raw talent and massive sporting potential.

UN The Gambia created good goal-scoring chances in the first half but failed to convert them.

Ebrima Faal scored for UN The Gambia during the match.

UN The Gambia maintained their dominance over Judiciary (judicial staff) throughout the first half.

As action resumed in the second half, UN The Gambia could have secured a slender victory but Ousman Faal levelled matters for Judiciary just five minutes to stoppage time thus the match ended 1-1.

Secretary General of NISA, Gibril Jarjue, stated that the purpose of the tournament is to bring together workers and civil servants.

Jarjue further stated that 15 institutions are currently participating in the tournament.

He described the opening match as a success and urged the players to exercise sportsmanship and develop networks and collaboration.
