Muhammed Sanyang’s 62nd minute strike earned New Town FC the trophy.
Mamakoto fought hard for an equaliser but were unable to penetrate New Town FC’s formidable defence line thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of New Town FC.
As champions New Town FC received a giant trophy, a set of jersey and cash prize of D6000 while Mamakoto FC received a set of jersey and D4000 as runners-up.
The Bakau sub-ward tournament was initiated by Youths and Sports Committee of Bakau Development Committee (BDC) in collaboration with National Assembly Member for Bakau Constituency Hon. Assan Touray.
The tournament was aimed at bringing sub-wards within Bakau together.
Speaking to Point0 Sports shortly after the match, Hon. Assan Touray, stated that the tournament was organised to bring youths of Bakau together.
“I have seen the unification of the youths of Bakau, he said.
‘‘It was wonderful to stage the tournament in other to reinforce unity among youths.”
“I suggest this is the best I can do for the community of Bakau,” Hon. Touray said.
He further stated that sports is only way to bring everybody together from different political parties.
Hon. Touray revealed that they proposed to organise this kind of tournament annually.
He was impressed with the way and manner the tournament was organised.
