Marr, who captained the Young Scorpions to a bronze medal finish at this year’s African U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania, is arguably one of the most decorated youngsters in Gambian football history.
In 2019, he was part of the Gambian team that won bronze at the WAFU U-20 Cup in Guinea and a year later, he became a gold medalist in Thies, Senegal.
This achievement ensured Gambia’s place in Mauritania 2021, where he was a key player and voted Man-of-the-Match on one occasion.
The Gambia also qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, where he was expected to be a key player but the tournament was called off as a result of the devastating effects of the Covid19 pandemic.
Young, intelligent, and disciplined, the combative Marr is known for his obedience and willingness to learn new challenges.
Known by his sobriquet, Toni Kroos, Marr, like his idol, is obsessed with the number 8 shirt.
He dreams of one day playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid, following in the footsteps of the German playmaker.
“Tijan is set for a very bright future and if he continues to make an upward trajectory then anything is possible,” his U-20 Coach Matarr M’Boge recently said.
