Medina United have surrendered the maximum points to Essau United in the 2024\2025 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division Two League.

The Medina Boys lost to the Essau Boys 1-0 in their week-seventeen clash played at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum on Wednesday.

Medina United slipped to The Gambia Ports Authority 3-0 before locking horns with Essau United, who beat Wagadu FC 1-0 to move from bottom-place to second-place from bottom on the country’s Second Tier table.

Coach Alieu Jagne and his Medina United charges knew that a defeat against Essau United would darted their dreams of gaining automatic promotion to the First Division League.

Medina United made an exceptional start to the match and controlled Essau United in the midfield, creating goal scoring opportunities but squandered them away.

Essau United, who relied on counter attacks, scored one goal during the match from the penalty spot without Medina United replying to secure a narrow win over the Medina Boys.

Medina United reacted for an equaliser and crafted goal scoring chances but failed to capitalise on them thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Essau United.

The victory earns Essau United fifteen-place on the country’s Second Tier table with 13 points after seventeen league matches.

Medina United now occupy fourth-place on the Second Division League table with 30 points in seventeen league outings.
