Media fraternity mourns demise of Afri Radio sports presenter Pa Barrow

Media fraternity in The Gambia over the weekend mourned the untimely death of Afri Radio sports presenter Pa Barrow.

Barrow died in the early hours of Saturday at Faji Kunda.

He was laid to rest at his home village in Wulli, Upper River Region on the same day.

Hundreds of mourners including, colleagues gathered at his house in FajiKunda to pay their last respect before his death body was transported to his home village in Wulli, where he was laid to rest.

Barrow was described by many as a humble, dedicated and pious Muslim.

He was jovial and very down to earth.

Barrow was more than just a colleague and friend.

He was a dedicated and award-winning sports journalist who will be deeply missed.

The President of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG), Omar Jarju, expressed his devastation about Barrow death.

Jarju described Barrow's passing as a significant loss for sports journalism in The Gambia.

 "I am just speechless at this moment.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Barrow's family and loved ones during this difficult time," Jarju said.

Lamin Del Fadera of Afri Radio, described Barrow as a very dedicated and hardworking person who has left a positive impact on many people in the country.

"Barrow’s passing has left a void that words can’t fill.

I am devastated, heartbroken and lonely," Fadera said.

Fadera stated that Barrow’s voice would be missed on the air waves of Afri Radio 107.6 FM.

He further stated that Barrow would be dearly missed by everyone at Afri Radio, Africell and all those who crossed paths with him.

Fadera prayed for Allah to reward Barrow the highest place in Jannah.
