Manjai ‘nawetan’ update

The Manjai Sports Committee (MSA) annual local football tournament (‘nawettan’) is gaining momentum since its commencement in September.

The Manjai-Kunda biggest tournament is witnessing one of the most thrilling fixtures with fascinating score-lines as its group stage fixtures draws closer.

Ramdan FC beat Brusubi FC 3-0 in their third group F game played early on Friday.

A brace from Habibou Sillah in the 13th and 22nd minutes, and a goal from Lamin Manjang in the 39th minute helped Ramdaan FC collect the maximum points.

Ramdaan FC finish top of Group F with 6 points while Ecowas FC occupy second place with 4 points. Brusubi United secured third with 4 points and Giants FC finished bottom with 3 points.

Kotu FC played a 1-1 draw against Fillan FC in their second group E game played late on Friday.

It is not the flying start Kotu FC hoped to see unfold in the nawetan after two successive draws.

Kotu struggled for a point after falling behind in the 51st minute. However, they restored parity through Bakary Sarr 10 minutes later.

Group E is tricky with all teams still in contention to secure qualification to the next stage of the competition despite leaders Ballack FC collecting 4 points after two games.
The draw leaves Fillan FC with a point at the bottom of the table. Kotu is on 3rd position with 2 points while Zam Zam is 2nd with 3 points.

Real de Sanchaba beat Ajax Manjai 1-0 during their third Group H game played early on Saturday.

Real de Sanchaba, who started the competition with a defeat against Timbuktu Football Academy has responded with back-to-back wins to lead Group H with 6 points.

Ajax Manjai FC finished bottom (4th) position with 2 points in three games. They lost one game and drew two of their group matches.

Real de Sanchaba finished top of group H with 6 points, followed by Timbuktu Football Academy with 4 points, leveled with Box Bi who sit 3rd position while Ajax Manjai occupy 4th position with 2 points.

Kololi United beat Afro Express 1-0 in their third Group G game played early on Sunday.

Adama Dem scored the only goal of the match for Kololi United in the 51st minute.

Kololi United, who started the competition with a defeat against Bayern Central responded with back-to-back wins to lead Group G with 6 points.

Afro Express FC occupy 3rd position with 2 points.

Box Bi beat Timbuktu Football Academy 2-1 during their third Group H game played late on Sunday.

Habibou Jarjue gave Timbuktu Football Academy the lead in the 25th minute. Box Bi FC came from behind to win the game after goals from Ousman Abraham and Alfusainey Jallow in the 54th and 70th minutes.

The victory moved Timbuktu Football Academy to 2nd position with 4 points on superior goal-difference but leveled on points with Box Bi who occupy 3rd position.
