Kololi Central FC and Lemon Tree FC both created goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them thus the first half ended goalless.
Upon resumption of the match, Kololi Central FC outmuscled Lemon Tree FC in the midfield and crafted goal scoring opportunities.
Ismaila Sowe opened the scores for Kololi Central FC in the 72nd minute of the match, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Kololi boys.
The defeat ends Lemon Tree FC’s 11 match unbeaten run in the 2024 Manjai nawettan campaign.
As champions, Kololi Central FC went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D75, 000 while Lemon Tree FC received D50, 000 as runners-up.
Head coach of Lemon Tree FC, Modou Lamin Ndure, thanked his technical staff and players for their wonderful job.
Coach Ndure stated that it was not easy to be unbeaten in the league after 11 matches.
He further stated that they prepared mentally and physically for the final but unfortunately they lost to Kololi Central FC.
“We dominated the entire match we created more chances but we failed to capitalize on them,” Coach Ndure said.
He pointed out that Kololi Central FC capitalised on their goal scoring chances, while thanking his fans for their tremendous support.
Ndure also thanked Manjai Sports Association for organising such a wonderful league final.
Head coach of Kololi Central FC, Omar Sey, congratulated his boys for their wonderful football.
“I think it’s the first time my team won trophy back to back in the Manjai nawettan,” Coach Sey said.
Coach Sey added that he has a very young team that makes his work very easy for him, revealing that they also received support from the elders of Kololi Central.
