The Gambia and Guinea Bissau both missed the chances to snatch qualification to the 2025 Total Energies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after losing to Mali and Senegal in their semi-final matches.
The duo fought tooth and nail to beat each other to clinch bronze medal in the sub-regional junior biggest football fiesta but regular time ended goalless.
This pushed the match into post-match penalty shootouts, which ended 6-5 in favour of The Gambia.
Meanwhile, Senegal won the 2024 WAFU Zone A U-17 football tournament trophy after defeating Mali on post-match penalty shoot outs in a keenly-contested final played at the Abdoulaye Wadda Stadium on Monday.
Senegal and Mali both secured qualification to the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Guinea Bissau and The Gambia in their semi-final matches.
