GWA to stage 2-day capacity building for regional coaches, wrestling technicians

The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) will today, Tuesday 15th March 2022 start a two-day capacity building training for regional coaches and wrestling technicians in Farafeni, North Bank Region.

The training programme is expected to gather 30 participants representing a variety of technical entrepreneurs in traditional sports from the seven administrative regions.

The training is expected to be graced by the chairman of the National Sports Council Marcel Mendy; Governor and chairman of the North Bank Region Lamin Saidykhan and district chiefs amongst others.

The sessions will introduce participants to the history of wrestling as well as training on technical coaching, management of the sport and its tactical psychology.

The workshop is supported by The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) under its project "promoting investment in Culture, Creative Arts and Traditional Sports to enhance Resilience against Climate Change in Local Communities." It is organised in partnership with Gaye Njorro Foundation and The Gambia Wrestling Association.

The Farafeni workshop will be the third this year organised by the Serign Modou Faye led executive. Similar workshops were held in Basse, URR and GCCI hall earlier this year.
