The Coastal Town boys lost to the Tallinding boys 3-2 in the first round of the country’s Second Tier campaign at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Gunjur United came for revenge against RS Tallinding to increase their dreams of gaining promotion to the First Division League.
The Coastal Town boys made an excellent start to the match and dominated RS Tallinding FC in the midfield, crafting several goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them thus the first half ended goalless.
Upon resumption of the match, Gunjur United maintained their supremacy over RS Tallinding FC and created goal scoring opportunities.
Striker Moses Jatta gave Gunjur United the lead in the 46th minute of the match from a stunning strike.
RS Tallinding FC reacted quickly for an equaliser and created some goal scoring chances but were unable to penetrate Gunjur United’s formidable defence line.
Wing wizard Abdoulie Jassey alias Dybala scored the second goal for Gunjur United in the 68th minute of the match to dart RS Tallinding FC’s dreams of coming back to their feet.
RS Tallinding FC fought hard for an equaliser and crafted a few goal scoring opportunities but failed to score.
The Tallinding boys missed a penalty in the dying minute of the match thus the match ended 2-0 in favour of Gunjur United.
The win earns Gunjur United 6th place on the country’s Second Tier table with 33 points in 23 league fixtures.
RS Tallinding FC now sit 9th place on the Second Division League table with 32 points after 23 league outings.
