Gunjur maintain 100% percent record in Kombo South District tourney

Gunjur have maintained their hundred percent record in the 2024 Approves Service (APS) sponsored Kombo South District football tournament after thumping Sifoe 2-0 in their Group C match played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field on Sunday.
The Coastal Town boys secured 3 points after smashing Sinchu Wuri 2-0 in their opening group match before rubbing shoulders with Sifoe in their second group match.
Gunjur and Sifoe both made an astonishing start to the match and created several goal scoring opportunities.
Budding Malang Gibba alias Kunta opened the scoring for Gunjur in the 45th minute of the match from a towering header.
Sifoe reacted for an equaliser but were unable to unlock Gunjur’s formidable defence line thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Gunjur.
Upon resumption of the match, Sifoe injected in several fresh legs to reinforce their attacking tag and crafted some goal scoring chances but failed to capitalise on them.
Gunjur, who relied on counter-attacks, created some goal scoring opportunities.
Winger Baboucarr Touray alias Faback netted the second goal for Gunjur in the 66th minute of the match from a stunning strike to earn the Coastal Town boys a resounding victory over Sifoe.
Sifoe replied for an equaliser and created numerous goal scoring opportunities but were unable to penetrate Gunjur’s solid defence line thus the match ended 2-0 in favour of Gunjur.
Gunjur lead Group C of the Kombo South District football tournament with 6 points after two group matches.
Sifoe occupy bottom-place in Group C of the Kombo South District football tournament without a point in one group match.
The Sifoe boys must beat Tujereng, Mamuda and Sinchu Wuri in their remaining group matches to cruise to the round of sixteen of the Kombo South District football tournament.
