The coastal town boys came from one nil down to beat the Foni boys 2-1 in their crunch Group B clash played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-Stadium.
Gunjur and Foni both needed the vital three points to increase their chances of reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 GFF super nawettan football championship.
Foni opened the scores through Ebrima Gibba in the 60th minute of the match.
Left-back Omar Tamba levelled matters for Gunjur in the 62nd minute of the match.
Central defender Lamin Manga (alias Busquets) scored the winning goal for Gunjur in the 93rd minute of the match to earn the coastal town boys a slender win over Foni in the 2022 GFF super nawettan zonal football tournament.
The victory moved Gunjur to second-place in Group B with 6 points in three group matches.
The defeat saw Foni out of the annual super nawettan zonal football championship with 5 points after four group matches.
The Foni boys will now hang their boots until next year following their shock exit from the country’s prestigious community biggest football fiesta.
