Government extends state of emergency as Nawettan edges closer

The government of The Gambia has extended state of public emergency, as the 2020 nawettan season looms closer.

The government on Tuesday extended the state of public emergency for another seven days to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The wet season biggest football jamboree (nawettan) normal begin in The Gambia this month but covid-19 pandemic delay the commandment of the annual football championship.

Meanwhile, Gambia Football Federation (GFF) in May 2020 declared its 2019-2020 national Division One and Two league competitions null and void following the extension of state of public emergency by President Adama Barrow in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The 2020-2021 Division One and Two leagues campaign will begin in October 2020.
