GNOC snatches US $50,000 to renovate office complex

President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee, Bai Dodou Jallow, has disclosed that GNOC secured US $50,000 from the Olympic Solidarity Fund to renovate its headquarters in Bakau.

Jallow stated that GNOC improved governance and financial management spearheaded by his executive as fulfillment of promises when they assumed office.

"When we were elected, we promised to improve GNOC governance. We have achieved tremendously," he said, giving a rundown of some of their works and enumerated a number of attainments.

Jallow disclosed that he and his executives improved the number of funding from Olympic Solidarity.

"When we came, we tried to see what GNOC was getting from the Olympic Solidarity, we eandevoured to improve that," Jallow said.

Jallow highlighted The Gambia's active participation in the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Games, making specific reference to Games played in Algeria and Angola, and that of the Common Wealth Games, as they sent athletes to represent The Gambia.

He noted that the considerable achievement in financial management has helped clear bank overdrafts incurred before they took over office and has considerably reduced debt.
