GNOC discusses key developments and matters

The Gambia National Olympics Committee (GNOC) recently discussed key developments and matters with its member associations, partners, stakeholders and staff over the last twelve (12) months.

The key developments and matters were highlighted during  GNOC Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at its headquarters  in Bakau.

The year 2025 has so far been a year, as all other years, marked by both successes and challenges for GNOC.

The AGM provided the opportunity once more to recognise achievements and path towards addressing persistent and emerging challenges confronting GNOC.

The AGM was attended by key personalities in the body and renowned Gambian sports administrators, such as Mahmud Lamin Jawla, executive director of National Sports Council, Alagie Garbi Joof, honorary president of The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), and Abdoulie Bax Touray, Economist and Eminent Sports Administrator.

 The President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), Bai Dodou Jallow, described the gathering as an important one , adding that the gathering gave them the opportunity to discuss GNOC matters and build capacity related to 2025.

 "It was a moment to propose additions and subtractions as well,"Jallow said.

Honorary president of The Gambia Olympic Committtee (GNOC), Alagie G. Joof, and Mahmud Lamin Jawla of National Sports Council (NSC) also spoke along the same lines in their brief speeches, describing the convergence as an important one meant to move forward as a body.

There were presentations by secretary general of GNOC Yorro Njie on the activities of the executive board and treasurer Bai Madi Ceesay on the audited accounts for the year 2024.

Subsequently, secretary general Yorro Njie presented the activities of the executive board, while treasurer Bai Madi Ceesay presented the audited accounts for 2024.

The various reports were discussed and adopted.

That considered, the participants held overview of the achievements of GNOC from January  to December 2025, eventually proceeding for the consideration and approval of the 2026 budget.

 Economist and Eminent Sports Administrator, Abdoulie Bax Touray made a presentation on governance and management of national federations to expose the gathering, especially those from sports associations and federation, to effective governance models and administrative techniques in sports management.
