Jonny, a former Sierra Leone, Uganda and Rwanda coach is the current manager of Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia FC.
He will take over from 1st June, 2024.
Jonny will guide the Scorpions to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, The Gambia sit second-place from bottom in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers without a points after two group matches.
The Scorpions slipped to Burundi 3-2 in their opening qualifier match before losing to Ivory Coast 2-0 in their second group match.
