Gambian players in Italy set for Serie A restart

Gambian who are playing their trades in Italy are ready for the restart of the 2019-2020 Serie A season after the coronavirus pandemic halted the country’s league campaign in March.

Prolific striker Musa Barrow’s Bologna were sitting 10th place in the Italy top flight league table with 34 points before covid-19 stopped the Italian league campaign. Barrow and his club will scuffle to win their remaining league games to earn a place in the UEFA Europa League next season when Serie A matches restart.

Budding winger Ebrima Colley’s Atalanta were among the teams vying for a spot in the UEFA champions league with 48 points before the covid-19 outbreak halted the league campaign.

Colley and his club are already through to the quarterfinal of the 2019-2020 UEFA champions league after thumping Spanish side Valencia 7-4 on aggregate in the knock-out phase of the Europe elite football club competition played in March.

Youngster Musa Jawara’s AS Roma were occupying UEFA Europa League spot with 45 points before the covid-19 pandemic. Jawara and his side will combat to win their remaining league fixtures to qualify for UEFA Champions league next season.

Meanwhile, Scorpions captain Omar Colley’s Sampdoria were sitting one place above relegation in the Italian Serie A with 26 points prior to the suspension of the league campaign in March.

Colley and his team now need to win their remaining league outings to stay in the Italian top flight league.
