Gambian players abroad: Ceesay, Sowe score for clubs again

Gambian international duo strikers Assan Ceesay and Ali Sowe continued their goal-scoring forms for their European clubs in Italy and Russia respectively.

 

Assan Ceesay was on the score-sheet during his Swiss Super Liga side FC Zurich 2-1 away win over Servette in their week-13 fixture of the Swiss Super League on Sunday.

The 27-year-old scored his side’s first goal in the 28 minute of the game.

The goal was Assan’s 10th league goal of the season in 12 league appearances this season. He was also player of the match in that encounter.

Assan Ceesay has provided 4 assists and amassed 988 minutes with a total rating of 7.68.

The victory maintained FC Zurich on second position in the league with 25 points, while Servette sit 8th position with 12 points. 

Scorpion’s striker, Ali Sowe was also on the score-sheet as his Russian side Rostov defeated Rubin FC 5-1 in their week-11 fixture of the Russian Premier League on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Gambian international scored his side’s fourth goal in the 65 minute of the game.

He bagged 3 goals, provided 1 assist in 7 league matches. He has played a total of 347 minutes.

Musa Juwara was limited to just 21 minutes as Crotone drew 1-1 with Monza in the Italian Serie B. The 19-year-old Gambian international who is on loan from Bologna, has played 3 matches without a goal or an assist. His loan spell will end in July 2022.

In Norway, Sheriff Sinyan played the entire 90 minutes as Molde won Sanderfjord 3-1 in the Norwegian League. Sinyan made an error that led to Sanderfjord’s goal.

The 25-year-old central defender has scored 2 goals and assisted 1 in 22 league appearances. He has played a total of 1,900 minutes with a total rating of 7.22.

In Belgium, Ablie Jallow played for 76 minutes as FC Seraing were held to a goalless draw by Gent FC at home in the Belgium top flight on Sunday.

Germano, as he is fondly called, was the most accurate passer (88%) to play 45 minutes or more. The 22-year-old has scored a total of 2 goals and provided 1 assist in 14 league matches.

In France, Mahdi Camara played the full 90 minutes as Saint- Ethinne defeated Clermont Foot 3-2 in the French League 1.

The 23-year-old central midfielder has played a total of 1,120 minutes in 13 league matches in the 2020/21 season so far. Madhi is yet to score for Saint- Etienne this season.

In Italy Omar Colley made his 12th Serie A appearances as Sampdoria lost 2-3 at home against Bologna on Sunday. The 29-year-old Gambian international has amassed a total of 947 minutes.

Musa Barrow played for 76 minutes when Bologna defeated Sampdoria 3-2 away from home in Serie A. The 22-year-old has scored 4 goals and assisted 3 in 11 Serie A appearances.
