Gambia U-20 return home after All African Games misery

The Gambia U-20 team has returned home from Ghana, following their miserable performance in the All African Games, Accra 2023.

The Young Scorpions were eliminated in the group phase of the All African Games after finishing bottom-place in Group B with a point in three group outings.

The Gambia U-20 team drew goalless with Benin in their opening group match before losing to Ghana 3-1 in their second group match.

The Young Scorpions slipped to Congo Brazzaville 2-1 in their third and final group match.

Coach Abdoulie Bojang and his Young Scorpions charges will now prepare themselves set for the upcoming WAFU zone A U-20 Youth Championship slated for later this year after their woeful performance in the All African Games, Accra 2023.

Meanwhile, The Gambia U-20 team finished as runners-up in the 2023 Total Energies Africa U-20 Youth Championship hosted in Egypt, after losing to Senegal 2-0 in a final played at the Cairo International Stadium on 11th March 2023.

The Young Scorpions were eliminated in the round of sixteen of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Argentina after slipping to Uruguay 1-0.
