Gambia U-20 crash out of All African Games

The Gambia U-20 team on Friday crashed out of the All African Games, Accra 2023.

The Young Scorpions lost to Congo Brazzaville U-20 team 2-1 in their third and final Group A game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Gambia needed only a victory against the Congolese and hope Benin U-20 team slip to Ghana U-20 team to cruise to the quarter-finals of the All African Games, Accra 2023.

Prolific striker Dawda Darboe alias Viper opened the scores for The Gambia U-20 team in the 19th minute of the match, which eventually proved to be a consolation for the Young Scorpions.

Congo Brazzaville scored two goals in the second half to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over The Gambia U-20 team.

The defeat saw The Gambia U-20 team out of the All African Games, Accra 2023.

The Young Scorpions will now hang their boots until next the competition after their exit from All African Games.

Meanwhile, Coach Abdoulie Bojang and his charges finished bottom-place in Group A without a point after three group outings.
