“I am proud of my players who keep writing the history of our football. It is extraordinary, magnificent, satisfactory and much more," coach Bojang said.

He further stated that: "We have scored 10 goals in this competition without conceding. We are a small country which now plays in big tournaments."

Meanwhile, both The Gambia and Senegal have a similar record in the tournament as they won all five matches without conceding a goal and scoring in each match.

Senegal have the best attack of the tournament with 12 goals while The Gambia scored 10 goals going into the final on Saturday.

The Young Scorpions reached the semifinals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania two years and won bronze.

This year’s final which is slated for Saturday, 11th March 2023 at the Cairo International Stadium will rekindle the two country’s football rivalry as they look for a maiden Under-20 Afcon crown.
