Gambia U-17 return home after failing to clasp spot in U-17 World Cup

The Gambia U-17 team on Monday 14th April 2025 returned home from Casablanca, Morocco, after failing to grab a place in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Baby Scorpions slipped to Uganda 2-1 in their play-off match played in El Jadida on Saturday.

Ahmed Njunku Kanyi gave The Gambia U-17 team the lead in the 1st minute of the match.

Bogere scored a brace for Uganda in the 15th and 34th minutes of the match respectively to earn the Ugandans a spot in the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Gambia U-17 team and Uganda U-17 team both failed to secure qualification to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Total Energies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing third-place in their respective groups.

The Baby Scorpions finished third-place in Group C of the continent’s cadet biggest football showpiece with 3 points in three group matches.

Uganda U-17 team also finished third-place in Group A of the 2025 Total Energies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations with 3 points after three group outings.
