Gambia to open AFCON account against Senegal on 15th January

The Gambia senior national team is set to open its 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Senegal on 15th January 2024 at 2pm.

 

The Scorpions drew 1-1 with the Terranga Lions in their second-leg qualifier match of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations played at the stade Leopard Sedane Senghore in Dakar, after their goalless in their first-leg qualifier match played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Gambia will clash with Guinea Conakry in their second group match on 18th January 2024 at 8pm.

The Scorpions will play against Cameroon in their third and final group match on 23rd January at 5pm.

Coach Tom Saintfiet and his Scorpions charges will combat to beat Senegal, Guinea Conakry and Cameroon in their group matches to sail to the round of sixteen of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

It could be recalled that The Gambia defeated Guinea Conakry 1-0 in their round of sixteen clash of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations before losing to Cameroon 2-0 in their quarter-final match.
