Gambia slip to Senegal in WAFU Zone A U-17 tournament

The Gambia on Friday lost to Senegal 3-1 in their Group A match of the 2024 WAFU Zone A U-17 football tournament played at the Stade Lat Dior in Thies.

The Young Terranga Lions defeated Liberia 2-1 in their opening group match before clashing with the Baby Scorpions in their second group match.

The Gambia and Senegal were both enthusiastic to beat other to grab the significant three points.

Senegal scored three goals during the match to land their second victory in the sub-regional junior biggest football showpiece.

The Gambia netted one goal in the match, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.

The Young Terranga Lions now secured six points after winning their two opening group matches.

The Baby Scorpions are without a point in one group matches.

The Gambia must beat Liberia in their second and final group match to sail to the semi-finals of the 2024 WAFU Zone A U-17 football tournament.
