The championship was held in the US in 2024 where Belgium, Italy, France and Canada participated.
They decided to bring the tournament to Africa and The Gambia will host the championship.
The Gambia will welcome the championship because they are the most focus and to boost the sport.
U.S., Belgium, France, Italy, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and The Gambia are all expected to participate in the championship.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vouinam Viet Vo Dao, Mamud Njie, stated that they have approached National Sports Council about the championship since November 2024.
Njie further stated that they had met minister for Youth and Sports Bakary Y. Badjie about the championship.
He revealed that they met Hon. Mamma Kandeh last month about the championship because the championship is fast approaching.
“We are seeking support to host the championship because we need about D3.5 million,” Njie said,
pointing out that they went to Qcell, Africell, and Comium but were unable to receive support from them.
He called on President Adama Barrow to support the championship.
Secretary General and Leader for opposition Gambia Democratic Party (GDC), Mamma Kandeh, revealed that he called Minister for Youth and Sports Bakary Y. Badjie and explained the situation.
Kandeh encouraged minister Badjie and NYC to support the championship.
For his part, Minister for Youth and Sports Bakary Y. Badjie stated that he had discussion with the National Sports Council regarding the championship.
