The Gambia, who reached the quarter-final of the 2021 AFCON in its maiden appearance in Cameroon after beating the same opponent (Guinea Conakry), must beat the Syli National and hope that Senegal also beat Cameroon in the other Group C encounter to be played earlier today (5pm).
The Scorpions, who lost 3-0 to neighbours Senegal in their opening match, will face an uphill task to beat Guinea, who drew in their opening game against Cameroon.
A draw or defeat could end Gambia’s 2024 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations campaign hence only a win is the saving grace for the Scorpions.
