Dutch football promoter sees possibility of scouting players from rural Gambia

A Dutch football promoter who is currently supporting Kids With Talent (KWT) football academy in Kuloro in the Kombo East has said that he was looking forward to the possibility of scouting players from rural Gambia to play for teams in Holland.

During a day-long friendly football matches organised by KWT Football Academy on Saturday, at the Kuloro football field, Trenus Kwant said he is overwhelmingly optimistic about the future of football in The Gambia.

During the day-long football jamboree, KWT Football Academy senior team played a 0-0 friendly match against Kafuta Jarisu football club, while KWT football academy Under-15 team defeated Bundas Kids Academy of Kafuta by 2-0.

Earlier last year.

Trenus Kwant donated football materials to the KWT football academy which included sets of jersey, footballs, first aid kits, tracksuits, beeps, gloves and cons.

Kwant said the sporting gears were provided through a collection by one of his friends; name Geert Jan Middehos, who plays for Asser Boys Football club in Holland.

Momodou S Bah, founder and team manager of KWT Football Academy, thanked Kwant and Geert for their support to his academy which is helping young people to give more focus on football. He encouraged the young players to be focused in their dreams to become professional footballers, saying the game is not about one's geographical location but his focus and determination.

While thanking the donors for their generosity to the academy, Mr Bah appealed for more support to enable them realise their dreams.

Secretary of KWT Football Academy, Lamin MS Jammeh, said they were hopeful that the friendly games will strengthen the relationship between them and their Dutch partners in improving and developing grassroots football.

"This is part of our efforts to improve sports in local communities and making young players achieve their hopes,” he stated.
