Coaches have started submitting their applications for the vacant Gambia senior national team coach position.

The Scorpions are currently without a gaffer following the sudden resignation of Tom Saintfiet after The Gambia’s early exit from the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations.

According to news reaching The Point Sports Desk, former England and Arsenal defender Saul Campbell, former Ivory Coast and Arsenal defender Kolo Toure and Moroccan Ben Hicham have all submitted their applications for the vacant Scorpions coach position.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) and The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) will be hoping to select the best coach to guide The Gambia senior national team to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Gambia will clash with Seychelles and Gabon in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches in June 2024.

The Scorpions sit second-place from bottom in Group F of the 20226 FIFA World Cup qualifiers without a point after losing to Burundi and Ivory Coast in their two opening qualifier matches.

The Gambia must beat Seychelles and Gabon in their next qualifier matches to improve their dreams of qualifying for first-ever World Cup.
