Coach Joseph Jabang announces squad ahead of Ivory Coast clash

Head Coach of the Gambia National Women's U-20 team, Joseph Jabang, has announced his final squad ahead of his side’s FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifier first leg clash against Ivory today, Friday, 9 May 2025  at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4pm.

Coach Jabang announced his squad during a press conference at the Independence Stadium in Bakau yesterday.
Coach Jabang stated that his team started preparations for their match against Ivory Coast three weeks ago with 27 players, adding that during the second week of their training, he started his screening process and some players were dropped.

He is currently training with twenty-two (22) players.
Coach Jabang he was ready ahead of his side’s clash with the Ivoirians.
He further pointed that his team was preparing well for the match against Ivory Coast, adding that that all logistics were in place prior to the match.

Coach Jabang stated that their plan was to win their match against the Ivorians.
He added that Berewuleng FC are currently leading league, adding that the Brikama based-team are doing well in the league.
‘‘Berewuleng players are performing well week-in-week out. We are preparing mentally and physically for our match against the Ivoirians today," Coach Jabang said.
He pointed out that The Gambia Women’s U-20 team would be the first female national team to play their match at the Independence Stadium after CAF temporary approved the country’s biggest football arena to host international matches.
He added they were aware of the task ahead of them and they were really prepared for the game.
Coach Jabang called on fans to come in their large numbers to cheer the team during their match against Ivory Coast.

Mary N.F Gomez, a player, stated the preparations at the camp were amazing, adding that the management and technical staff of the team were trying everything possible to provide whatever they needed.
