The female tactician was speaking to reporters shortly after her side’s 3-0 win over Abuko United in their final match of the 2022/23 Gambia Football Federation Women Division One League played at Banjul Mini Stadium on Sunday.
“I am very happy today, winning the game with a margin of 3-0, honestly,” Coach Mbenga-Nyassi said.
She admits that her girls did extremely well throughout the league season.
Asked about the work she did to become back-to-back champions undefeated, she said it’s down to team work, hard work, committment and dedication from her players and technical staff.
‘‘If you can remember, I told you that this season we would not be competing, but then again we have a very good back room staff.”
Futher asked about goalkeeper Ramatoulie Jallow’s impact on her team, she said the shortstopper adds value to her side.
“We registered three goalkeepers but Ramatoulie is special. She has never been absent for training.”
‘‘We had a strategy and allowed Mariama Ceesay to lead the first half of the season while Ramatoulie took charge of the second half of the season,” she stated.
Reacting to rumours sorrounding Kumba Kuyateh’s future, she said it is just a rumour, while wishing her to sign a professional contract.
“No team has contacted us for Kumba yet,’’ she said.
According to Coach Mbenga-Nyassi, Kumba Kuyateh wants to move to Senegal.
‘‘We will go back and regroup, rebrand and scout more players before the start of the new league season,” she concluded.
