The Gambian Para Powerlifting team headed by experienced Modou Gamo arrived in Dubai on Sunday to join elite athletes for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Para Powerlifting World Cup in Dubai.
The Gambia for the first time sent more than one athlete to the world stages for powerlifting competition. Ali Kah travels with the team for the first time to compete in one of the biggest Para sports events. He was classified shortly after the arrival of team Gambia accompanied by head coach, Hagie Drammeh.
Some of the world’s top para powerlifters have also arrived to compete in the third World Cup of the year.
Workshops and seminars for competitors and technical officials are also underway ahead of the competition proper which kicks off today, Tuesday.
Gambia’s big man, Modou Gamo will compete in the final day of events when the big men faces each other for the top price.
