Gambian attacker Gibril Sillah has signed for Moroccan topflight team Raja Casablanca.
Although the 22-year-old has been in Górnik since July 2019, the past year (2020) was a breakthrough for him. This was noticed by fans of the 14-time Polish Champions (Gornik), who awarded the Gambian international with the title of Discovery of the Year.
From the beginning of 2020, Alasana showed an increase in form. After several months of acclimatization from match to match, he looked better and better. The result was a nomination for a nice footballer in two categories: both footballer and the revelation of the year.
Alasana Manneh won the award after gathering 65% of the vote. Second place Bartosz Nowak secured 35% of the votes.
According to fans in Polish for both spring and autumn, Manneh was one of the brightest figures on the team coach by Marcin Brosz.
Gornik Zabrze also revealed that Alasana Manneh’s fantastic overview of the field and precise key passes are his greatest strength, which he presented very often in league matches.
“In addition, Manneh can hit beautifully from a distance, which he proved in the match with Stal Mielec. That goal was recognised as the second most beautiful one in the past year. In 2020, he played 27 league matches, in which he scored two goals,” said the Polish side.
Moro as he is fondly called has four caps for The Gambia National Senior team (Scorpions), making fine displays during the process to guide the Scorpions on top of Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Born in Banjul, Manneh joined FC Barcelona's youth setup in 2016, from Aspire Academy. In July 2017 he was promoted to the reserves.
Gornik finished the season on ninth position with 41 points after thirty games.
They are currently sitting fifth position in the table with 23 points after fourteen matches.
The national women’s league two ended on Sunday as Berewuleng FC thrashed Lower Nuimi 6-1 to win the 2020-2021 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) national league two title at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Gambia’s Coach Tom Sainfiet has hailed his Scorpions players for the fighting spirit and resilience shown during their encounter against Mali.
