2nd Tier: Lamin Jammeh steers Gunjur Utd to slender win over Baalor Sarr

Budding Lamin Jammeh alias Buruno on Thursday guided Gunjur United to a narrow 1-0 victory over Baalor Sarr in their week-five fixture of the 2024\2025 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) League Division Two played at the Gunjur Nyamina Mini Stadium.

The Coastal Town boys thumped Serrekunda FC 2-0 before clashing with Baalor Sarr, who thrashed Essau United 3-0.

 Baalor Sarr dominated Gunjur United in the midfield department in the first half of the match and created goal scoring opportunities but were wasteful in front of goal.

Gunjur United, who were unable to contain Baalor Sarr in the first half, crafted a few goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them thus the first half ended goalless.

Upon resumption of the match, Gunjur United organised themselves and controlled midfield, creating goal scoring opportunities.

Budding Lamin Jammeh alias Buruno opened the scores for Gunjur United in the 47th minute of the match from an excellent strike, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Coastal Town boys.

Baalor Sarr searched for an equaliser and created goal scoring chances but were unable to penetrate Gunjur United’s formidable defence line thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Gunjur United.

The win earns Gunjur United fifth-place on the country’s Second Tier table with 8 points.

Baalor Sarr now occupy ninth-place on the Second Division League table with 6 points after five league matches.
