The seminar which started yesterday, Sunday 27 Dec. will concluded on Wednesday 30 Dec. 2020. It is meant to encourage and empower active participation of young women as sports administrators, build their capacities in decision making processes of their respective sports and also further enhance the representation of women in executive positions in the management of National Sports Associations and Federations.
During their farewell ceremony last Wednesday at the Olympic House, the executive director of GNOC, Muhammed Janneh, lamented on the importance International Olympic Committee put on the role of women in sports development.
“The Gambia National Olympic Committee had put a special importance on the development of women in sport and the committee will always endeavour to support our young athletes and encourage mass participation of women in sport,” he said.
“We expect the two young ladies will become good ambassadors for women in sport and will use their capacity to encourage more young girls to venture into sport, Janneh concluded.”
Sowe was the former captain of The Gambia Women National Volleyball team and currently serve as member of The Gambia Volleyball Federation executive committee, while Awa Sanneh is also playing a keep role in the management of swimming Association of The Gambia.
