This initiative, according to press release, is rooted in the spirit of unity and lawful progress, is designed to ensure that every citizen regardless of political or social affiliation recognizes their fundamental role in defending the constitutional framework of our Republic.
As planned, the nationwide outreach will focus on civic education, constitutional literacy, and peaceful democratic participation.
"These programs will took the form of - Community Town Halls in all regions of The Gambia to discuss the constitutional rights and duties of citizens; Youth Forums and School Engagements to foster a generation of legally aware and civically active youth and Media Campaigns across radio, television, and social platforms to inform and engage citizens on the value of upholding the Constitution."
Recognizing the diverse social and political fabric of our nation, YDL’s outreach will prioritize inclusive dialogue with particular focus on regional and district authorities for tailored local collaboration and religious and traditional leaders, who play a pivotal role in community guidance and cohesion.
It will also target Civil Society Organizations to coordinate efforts on civic advocacy and legal awareness.
In this light, YDL extends invitation for dialogue and cooperation with all relevant actors including government Institutions, to promote good governance and accountability and security forces, to strengthen the understanding of law enforcement and constitutional responsibility, among others.
This dialogue, the release added, is not for opposition or partisanship, but for collaborative protection of our national legal foundation.
YDL is committed to forming strategic and coherent partnerships with the National Council for Civic Education (NCCE); The Gambia Bar Association; Academic Institutions and Legal Clinics and International Human Rights and Democracy Organizations.
These partnerships, the release further stated, aim to uphold righteous and constitutional best practices, ensuring that all outreach, advocacy, and educational efforts remain non-partisan, lawful, and rooted in the democratic values of our Constitution.
As a youth-led initiative, YDL reaffirms its dedication to defending the Constitution not just in words, but through action, education, and lawful activism.
