The tour was held under the theme: ''Fostering Peace Amongst Women and Children: Raising Awareness on the Use of Illicit Drugs Amongst Youths and Championing Environmental Preservation'.
The tour, which is the first in the history of the association, commenced on August 24 and ended on 1st September 2023. It was also designed to build sustainable partnership between members of the association and grassroot communities.
During the tour, the delegation visited schools in the Lower River Region (LRR), where they sensitised students on important issues and entertained questions from high school students.
In partnership with the Mansakonko Area Council (MKAC) under the guidance of chairman Landing B. Sanneh, the UTG students also participated in a tree planting exercise within the front perimeter of MKAC Complex on the third day.
Similarly, the touring students also took part in tree-planting initiatives in partnership with the ST Foundation, the Regional Forestry Department and the Village Development Committees in URR, during which about 200 trees were planted at the Tambasangsang Community Forest in the Upper River Region (URR). The initaive was gladly welcomed and hailed by villagers.
The participants also paid a courtesy call on the Basse Area Council, where they were welcomed by the staff members including CEO Mr. Sallah and held a meeting attended by the Vice Chairman Danjo and others.
