The workshop, officials said, aims to educate UTG staff by equipping them with the required skills and knowledge in online facilitation, and the effective use of AI in teaching, designing, engaging online learning experiences, and inculcating AI tools to yield their educational outcomes.
Dr. Adewale Adekeye, facilitator of the workshop expressed gratitude to the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) for their generous sponsorship and continued support in advancing education across the Commonwealth.
He added: “COL's mission is to help Commonwealth Member States and institutions to harness the potential of distance learning and technologies in order to expand access to education and training.”
Through its various initiatives, he said, COL has been at the forefront of promoting quality education, supporting the creation of open educational resources, and fostering innovation in teaching and learning methodologies.
“As we gather here today, we stand at the intersection of tradition and innovation in education,” he said
“The rapid evolution of education in today’s world, and UTG as an educational institution perseveres to evolve with the world. Therefore, this workshop will help to equip staff with skills and knowledge not just to keep pace with these changes, but to lead the way in shaping the future of education in The Gambia.”
The objective of the training, he continued, is to enable participants to be able to leave, at the end of session, with the capabilities of handling their courses online.
“It is also envisaged that by the end of the training, participants will show their staff or participants about students' perspectives by administering online course registration, and course material assessments respectively.”
