UTG equips staff on instructional design, ODL

The University of The Gambia (UTG) recently organised a three day training session for its staff and faculties on instructional design and open distance learning (ODL) course material development enhancement with open educational resources for the institution.

The three days workshop funded by Commonwealth of Learning based in Canada was held at the UTG Peace Building conference room in Kanifing.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Kayode Adekeye, project coordinator for the ODL project said the project was validated and approved by UTG at its 84th senate meeting.

He added that, the courses are identified from different programs across the school and will serve as pilot courses for a Bachelors degree program (BSc)  at the University of The Gambia, Psychology, Human Resource (HR), adding that other University worldwide courses will fall on the program’s phase once implemented.

Dr. Adewale Adesine, project Consultant, highlighted the role of Commonwealth of Learning which was created by the Commonwealth heads of government in 1987 to encourage developing and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge resources and technologies.
