The National Council for Civic Education (NCCE) has received equipment support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aimed at enhancing its operational capacity and boosting delivery of civic education and community engagement across The Gambia.
The support, provided through the UNDP INSPIRE Project, seeks to support the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and national stakeholders ahead of the 2026–2027 general elections by strengthening institutional capacity, real-time data capture and operational logistics.
Presenting the items, Momodou A. Sise, chairman of the NCCE, expressed gratitude to UNDP for its continued support, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to deepening its partnership with UNDP in advancing civic education, promoting active citizenship and supporting democratic governance nationwide.
“This support represents an important contribution to strengthening the NCCE’s capacity to reach communities, promote informed and responsible citizenship, and encourage meaningful civic participation,” Mr. Sise noted.
The initiative, he added, underscores the vital role of partnerships in empowering citizens with the knowledge and understanding needed to contribute to democratic governance and national development.
With strengthened institutional capacity, the NCCE is poised to expand its outreach and impact, ensuring that civic education remains a cornerstone of good governance in The Gambia.
