Following massive flood destruction of the Tujereng women’s garden by the river which has currently retarded the women’s agricultural production in the area, the community head (Alkalo) Karamo S. Bojang has called on The Gambia Government for possible intervention to help women regain the agricultural land for future cultivations.

Mr. Bojang, retired Principal of Nusrat Senior Secondary School further called on the Government to provide the community with tight security as the area is populated with different people.

He was speaking at a joint meeting for Kombo South and Sanementereng Constituencies held at Tujereng as President Adama Barrow wrapped up his meet with the people tour in the Kombo areas.

The tour under the theme “together we can accelerate socio-economic growth and maintain peace and stability,” was aimed at dialoguing with the people across all regions to give the government direct information of some of the challenges encountered by the communities for possible intervention.

However, Bojang assured the President that Kombo South chiefs and alkalous are currently striving to end chaos related to land disputes within the area.

Bojang also highlighted sand mining as being part of the challenges faced by communities along the coast, which he said has caused huge destruction to their river banks.

He called for Government’s intervention to address the issue and prevent further destructions of the areas.

With the need for community development, Bojang urged Government to help complete the Gunjur road which is currently under construction and possibly extend to other communities for easy movement.
