The presentation was held at City Limits Radio. The donated items were bags of rice, onion, oil and tins of tomato paste.
Chief Executive Officer Baba Ceesay explained that the Balance team initiated the programme since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic because they have a database of youth who were out of job. He said when they visit some of their youth in their homes, they usually found that most of them don’t have food for their families.
“The virus is serious but hunger too is serious and whatever we can do to give back to the society, we always do it. We don’t have money but we have our minds and we use it to support those who are voiceless.”
Mr. Ceesay further stated that there was some time back when they used to have another programme called Share Hands, which they had helped lot of communities. He said last year alone with their Share Hands initiative, they supported a woman whose house was burned.
“We have been doing the great gesture and we will continue doing it. When we started the parcel challenge, we normally open it online on City Limits Radio, where we would discuss facts surrounding the Coronavirus and during the show we will select the needy by visiting their houses, if necessary and support them with food items.”
He added that they also do open chance during the show for those who want to support the parcel challenge, while confirming that the parcel includes full package items like, rice, onion, oil and tomato.
He thanked Kebbeh and sons and other partners who sponsored the parcels challenge, while calling on donors to contribute.
Aruna Kebbeh of Kebbeh and Sons Company stated that they are youth involved in investing in electrical company. He said they believe that young people have to show when the country is faced with some challenges and need their support.
“We decided that the little thing we are receiving from our small company should be shared to others in order to sustain them in this trying time. When I heard the parcel challenge on the radio, I gathered my people and we discussed how to extend our support.”
Ebrima Jabbi, a beneficiary thanked both The Balance Crew and Kebbeh and Sons for the great gesture. He prayed for them and urged other companies and good people to imitate the great initiative.
