Sintet ward councillor faces inquiry

Amadi Tamba, the councillor of Sintet Ward, in the West Coast Region (WCR), on Monday faced commissioners at the Local Government Commission of Inquiry to provide evidence over crucial issues.

Tamba was also a member of the Development Committee, Environment Committee, and the Foreign and Integration Committee, while in 2023 he was a member of the Market Committee.

During his testimony, the witness admitted that his ward received D500,000 as ward allocation, saying: “The money was used to construct a car park in Kalagi, behind the police station.”

Quizzed about the progress of the said car park, the witness said the project was still not completed.

Councillor Tamba said they still needed extra D387,000 to enable them complete the car park project. He was however requested to bring the bill of quantity on or before Tuesday of next week.

Additionally, he testified that he used to receive the ‘so-called honorarium’ every Tobaski and Koriteh from 2018 to 2023.

He said he did not know why he was paid the honorarium, but expressed the conviction that it was to support them during “challenging times”.
