Serrekunda East Martial Arts Union elects new executives

The Serrekunda East Martial Arts Union on Friday elected new executive at its annual congress held at the Serrekunda East Park.

The congress had different martial art clubs together such as Karate, Taekwondo and Kungfu to form one union and the newly elected executive will run the affairs of the union for the next four (4) years.  

The congress was properly officiated by Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation executive lead by Modou Cham.

Speaking after the congress, Ebou Sanyang alias Jet Li, president-elect said the idea of unifying all martial art clubs within Serrekunda East was disclosed to clubs’ owners (Master) which they quickly adopted.

According to him, he and his team started work months back to make sure the union stays forever and strong.

He disclosed that on12th December 2021, the union attended an international competition called MEditerial Online Championship in Malta. 

“Karate, Taekwondo and Kungfu competed out of 33 countries and Gambia got 14 position and 3 gold medals, all first position in the category they competed”

“My union will continue to work tirelessly with any organisation to develop, promote and spread martial art sport not only in Serrekunda East, but in the whole country. The union will organise lots of competition and training on referee, coaching and club management course to set high standard.”

Sanyang indicated that many view Martial Art sports as a violent but actually is not. “Martial art is a sport like any other sports in the world. Martial Art is peaceful, healthy and most disciplined sport in the world.”

“Finally, I call on government, private sectors and individuals to fully support and recognise Serrekunda East martial art union in all aspects. Together we are stronger and Best.”

At the congress, Ebou Sayang alias Jet Li was elected unopposed as President. Other elected members include: Samba Faye, Vice President; Babucarr S.O. John, Secretary General; Gibbi Baladeh, Asst SG; Binta Saho, Treasurer; Matarr Bashir, Asst Treasurer.

Other elected members are; Musa Sambou, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Abubacarr Mishari Njie, Media Officer; Ebrima Dembo Tamba, Technical Director; Sheikh  Conteh 1, Ousman Badjie 2, Essa Sanneh 3 and Omar Conteh, Asst Technical Directors; Omar Conteh, Auditor General; and Rugia Colley, as Social Secretary.
