
The initiative, is part of the school’s growing digital education strategy, which aims to equip top learners with the tools needed for 21st-century learning.
At the event, Momodou Alpha Jarju, who emerged the overall best graduating students received the top prize, while the second laptop was awarded to Papis Amaechi, the best student in Grade 9.
At a colourful ceremony held at the school ground, Pastor John Jatta, principal of the school, explained that although both students demonstrated outstanding academic performance, Momodou Alpha Jarju edged other his colleague due to his consistent excellence since Grade 7, ultimately earning him the title of overall best graduating student.
The laptops, he revealed, will be pre-loaded with educational content spanning Grades 1 through 12.
He noted that this initiative supports the school’s upcoming shift toward online learning, which is expected to be launched in August 2025.
One of the laptops; the grand prize, was donated by the ceremony’s keynote speaker and proud alumnus of Agape Preparatory School, Mr. Buba Conteh. A software developer and aerodrome firefighter, Mr. Conteh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of The Gambia and currently works with the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority.
With his vast experience in building mobile apps, websites, and backend systems, Mr. Conteh returned to his former school to inspire the next generation.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Conteh as fondly called, recalled his days at Agape, where he earned the nickname “Computer” because of his passion for mathematics and technology - an early spark that paved the way for his future career.
He urged students to remain focused, disciplined, and open to learning.
“Your journey starts here. What you’ve learn in these classrooms lays the foundation for everything that comes next.” he encouraged students.
Mr. Conteh also unveiled a new website he developed for the school and personally handed over the grand prize laptop to Momodou Alpha Jarju.
Located in London Corner, Agape Preparatory School offers early childhood and basic education from Nursery through Grade 9. The school continues to build a reputation for blending academic rigor with digital innovation.
